The whole company grew out of this work. Across the twelve years leading up to 2013, Brenda Whitfield ran move-in coordination at a senior-living community in North Dallas, and no kind of move is more familiar to her than a senior one. A lifetime under a single roof leaves its mark, and such a move has little in common with an everyday one. The person directing it might be the longtime owner letting go of a large house for somewhere simpler, or it might be a son or daughter walking a parent through every step. In either case, our crew moves at a tempo that honors what these belongings stand for instead of hurrying to load the truck and leave. A great many of the older folks who call us are retirees finally leaving a Farmers Branch ranch where a family grew up, moving closer to grandchildren in Plano or Frisco, or trading a two-story for a single-level condo or an assisted-living suite in Addison or Las Colinas.
The first job is sorting, and it is the truly demanding one. We stand alongside you as you decide what comes, what the children would like, and what is donated or set out by the curb, free of any pressure and with no clock running. Since the destination is smaller, often a house traded for an apartment or a care suite, its layout gets studied in advance and we flag the pieces that will genuinely fit, so you are spared the grief of a sofa stuck in a new doorway or one that cannot make it onto the elevator. We help label cartons by room and by whoever they belong to, and we know which area charities will come pick up the furniture you decide to part with.
On move day, bulky or delicate, every piece earns the same care, the upright, the china hutch, the curio crowded with keepsakes, plus all the disassembly and reassembly they entail. Quite a few of these jobs conclude at retirement and assisted-living communities across the metroplex, where the desk requires proof of insurance, a reserved parking spot, a held elevator and loading-dock slot, and a sign-in at arrival. We take charge of that scheduling and those forms, lining up the move-in window straight with the facility staff, so the burden never lands on you or your family. Estate moves after a loss are part of what we do as well, worked at the family’s own pace through a house that has to be emptied. From the first carton to the final one, the same patient crew carries the job, never swapped out for unfamiliar faces along the way. During the hot months we begin at first light and run a cooler the whole time, so no resident has to wait beside a piece in the teeth of a North Texas afternoon.
